The laptop pays for the road. The camera helps me actually see it.
On busy weeks it’s easy to move from café to café and forget where you are. So I keep a camera in my bag, even on workdays.
I don’t take photos to look perfect. I take them to remember I was actually here.
When I hold a camera, I slow down. I wait for the light. I notice boats being pushed into the water, or how the rice fields change color after rain. For a few minutes, the only job is to look.
I edit my photos with a warm, slightly faded look, like an old film journal. It feels closer to how the moment felt than how it looked.
What do you always carry when you travel?
