Zen the Nomad

About • Padar Island, Komodo

I'm Zen. Digital nomad and island chaser.

A full-time remote worker from Indonesia, based in Bali. Laptop on weekdays, boats and viewpoints whenever I can.

The story

A song, a laptop and a lot of islands.

There is one song that always brings me back. A Moment Apart by ODESZA.

That music made me imagine a life of travel: to explore, to create, and to share the places I love. So I built a way to work from anywhere.

My remote work started with my own small VA business, pitching clients one by one. It grew into a full-time remote role, and an office that fits in a backpack.

Today Bali is my home base. I work from cafés in Canggu, and on free days I go wherever the next boat, trail or sunset is. Komodo, rice field roads, quiet beaches. I write it all down here, with the tips that make it work.

The road so far

Chapter 01

The song that started it

A Moment Apart by ODESZA, and the first picture of a life on the road.

Chapter 02

My own VA business

Pitching clients, learning tools, and my first income that didn’t depend on location.

Chapter 03

Full-time remote

A remote role and a laptop that goes wherever I go.

Chapter 04

Bali as home base

Canggu cafés on weekdays, beaches and rice field roads after work.

Chapter 05

The islands around it

Padar Island in Komodo, and many more islands on the list.

Why I write

To share the places and the know-how that make nomad life work.

The question I hear most is “is it really possible?” So I write down the places I go and the practical side behind them: where to work, how to move, and what’s worth the trip.

What makes this different

Real places, real workdays.

Adventure and remote work in the same story, from someone who lives both every week.

01 • Work + wander

A real remote job on the road

Every tip is tested on real workdays, with real calls and deadlines, not on a holiday.

02 • Southeast Asia

An Indonesian on home ground

Indonesia first, from someone who knows the islands, the roads and the cafés from the inside.

03 • Adventure

Islands, not just cafés

Viewpoints, boats and trails: the reason to work remotely in the first place.

04 • Tested places

Only places I've been

Wi-Fi speed, plugs, noise and views from my own visits. No copied lists.
